Why Your HVAC Website Isn't Getting You Any Calls
Most contractor websites look fine and do nothing. The reason is almost always the same — and it's not what most people think.
You have a website. The phone still doesn’t ring.
This is one of the most common frustrations HVAC contractors deal with. You paid to have a website built. It has your logo, your phone number, a list of services, maybe a contact form. It looks professional. And yet, when you’re honest with yourself, you can’t point to a single customer who found you through it.
The instinct is to blame the design, the colors, the layout — something visual that can be fixed. But that’s almost never the problem. Most contractor websites fail for a different reason entirely.
Google can’t rank a site that has nothing to say
Search engines rank web pages, not websites. When someone types “AC repair near me” into Google, Google isn’t evaluating your site as a whole — it’s looking for a specific page that answers that specific search. If your site doesn’t have a page that clearly addresses that topic, you’re not in the running.
Most contractor websites have the same five or six pages: Home, About, Services, a contact page, maybe a page for each major service category. That’s not enough to rank for anything meaningful. Those pages can’t cover the breadth of searches homeowners are actually performing — and homeowners search in a lot of different ways.
“HVAC repair Wellington FL.” “Why is my AC blowing warm air.” “Best HVAC company near me.” “How much does it cost to replace a heat pump.” “Emergency AC repair Palm Beach.” These are all different searches, and each one needs a different page to have a chance of ranking for it.
Content is how search engines learn what you do
Every page you add to your site teaches Google something about your business. A page about AC repair in a specific city tells Google you serve that area. A page about ductwork replacement tells Google you offer that service. A post explaining how to know when to replace versus repair a unit tells Google you’re a legitimate, knowledgeable source — not just a business card.
The more of this content you have, the more searches you can show up for. It’s not complicated, but it is cumulative. A site with eighty pages covering your services, your service areas, and common homeowner questions has a fundamentally different reach than a site with six.
This is why contractors who invested in content two or three years ago are now pulling away from competitors. Every page they published is still working for them. They’re showing up in searches that their competitors can’t touch, and the gap gets wider every month they keep publishing.
The problem isn’t knowing this — it’s doing it
Most contractors understand, at some level, that they should be adding content to their website. The reason it doesn’t happen is time. You’re running a business. You have a team to manage, jobs to schedule, parts to source, customers to call back. Sitting down to write an article about refrigerant types is not happening at the end of a ten-hour day.
This is the actual problem. Not the website design. Not the service list. Not the phone number placement. The site is thin because no one has time to build it out — and a thin site doesn’t rank, so the phone doesn’t ring.
What a site that actually works looks like
A contractor website that consistently generates inbound calls has a few things in common. It has dedicated pages for each service in each area it serves. It has content that covers the questions homeowners ask before they call. And it keeps growing — new content published on a regular schedule so Google continues to crawl it and continues to find reasons to rank it.
None of that requires a redesign. It requires content, added consistently over time. That’s the work.
That’s the gap Crimix fills
Crimix manages the content for HVAC contractor websites on a regular publishing schedule — so your site grows whether or not you have time to write. New pages, new posts, new signals for Google to find. The contractors who rank well aren’t doing anything exceptional. They just have a site that keeps getting built.
